hannahswinediary. welcome to my blog about the world’s greatest wines and winemakers.

About the author

Hi, my name is Hannah.

Wine was never something I studied formally, but it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandfather, so deeply passionate about wine, made his own in his backyard — not the kind that would chase Parker scores, but the kind that teaches you how much work and dedication go into every bottle.

That interest deepened during my studies in Mannheim, close to Germany’s famous dry Riesling regions Rheinhessen and the Pfalz, where I spent time on wineries and worked harvests. Later, I lived and worked for several months on wineries in Bordeaux and Tasmania, seeing firsthand how decisions, places, and people shape what ends up in the glass.

On my blog, I publish winemaker portraits in video and editorial form, alongside reflections on wine tasting and winemaking. I’m particularly interested in questions that are often discussed but rarely unpacked properly — the influence of terroir, the concept behind minerality, and what truly makes certain wines exceptional. Most of my editorals live on Instagram, where the diary began.

My professional background is in strategy consulting and private equity. That background still influences how I think and write: with a focus on structure, comparison, and clarity, while leaving room for the emotional side of wine.
